Temperature protection is only as good as its measurement point and response. A detector in the bearing housing can lag and read differently from the hottest internal surface.
| Input | Approval question | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Sensor | Where and how is it installed? | Arrangement drawing and calibration |
| Baseline | What is normal at comparable duty? | Load/ambient temperature trend |
| Alarm | What action starts before damage? | Operator response procedure |
| Trip | What limit and delay protect the train? | Supplier basis and functional test |

Check wiring identity, transmitter range, scaling and failure mode. Simulate the signal through the monitoring and shutdown path. Trend both bearings during initial service and investigate step changes, widening side-to-side differences or temperature rise accompanied by vibration.
