A sealed motor enclosure is not a complete export package. Temperature cycling can create condensation inside the packaging, while port delays and outdoor storage may extend exposure beyond the planned voyage.
| Stage | Required record | Reject or escalate when |
|---|---|---|
| Packing | Motor condition, dry state, barrier closure and packing date | Moisture is sealed inside or the barrier cannot be inspected |
| Container loading | Package location, securing and separation from wet cargo | Wrapping is punctured or water can collect around the skid |
| Transit or storage | Agreed exposure assumptions and monitoring method | Delay or storage conditions exceed the packaging basis |
| Receiving | Barrier condition, indicator/logger result and visible corrosion check | Water marks, damaged seals or abnormal indication are found |
Define the handoff before dispatch
The packing specification should identify who may open the barrier, how the motor is resealed, and how long the protected condition remains valid. Accessories, space-heater leads and loose documentation need their own moisture protection.
At receipt, photograph the package before removal from the container. Record any puncture, wet timber, damaged cover or shifted load. If moisture exposure is suspected, quarantine the motor and follow the manufacturer’s inspection and insulation-testing procedure before energisation.
