YBBP flameproof variable-frequency induction motor with a separately driven fan

YBBP is a totally enclosed flameproof variable-frequency three-phase induction motor built to GB/T 3836.1-2021 and GB/T 3836.2-2021, and to JB/T 11201.1-2011, the industry technical specification for flameproof variable-frequency machines in frames 80 to 355.

It runs constant torque from 3 to 50 Hz and constant power from 50 to 100 Hz (some ratings 50 to 60 Hz). Cooling is IC416 — a separately driven fan — which is what allows the bottom of the speed range to be used at torque.

The published marking is Ex db I Mb, the underground mining rating.

The point of a dedicated series is certification. A flameproof certificate covers the machine under the conditions it was tested; running a fixed-speed flameproof motor on a drive is outside that. This series is tested and certified for the drive.

Selection guide

Because the certificate does not cover it. Flameproof certification is issued for the machine as tested; adding a drive changes the thermal and electrical conditions. Using a certified variable-frequency flameproof series keeps the paperwork valid, which is what an inspection will actually look at.
YBBP carries the mining rating Ex db I Mb. YBBPX3 is the high-efficiency version and carries both the mining rating and the industrial rating Ex db IIB. If the site is a surface plant, YBBPX3 is the one with the applicable certificate.
IC416 means the fan runs independently of the motor, so cooling at 3 Hz is the same as at 50 Hz. That is the difference between a specification that works and one that overheats in service.
