CYJTYP is a semi-direct drive: a low-speed, high-torque permanent magnet synchronous motor mounted directly on the gearbox input shaft. Removing the belt drive removes a transmission stage and a set of consumables; removing the motor's own bearings reduces the axial depth of the machine, which is why it is built in a large-diameter flat form.

The change also improves the mechanical situation at the gearbox: without a belt pulley there is no radial pull on the gearbox input bearing, which is a known wear point on this equipment.

The shaft bore is tapered to match the gearbox output taper. Fit tolerance on that taper is not optional — a taper machined outside specification is how these motors come loose from the gearbox.

Reported energy saving on beam pumping unit projects ranges from 21% to 76%, varying considerably by well and by what was replaced.

Selection guide

Conventional beam pumping units where the belt drive is a maintenance item and the well would benefit from stroke rate adjustment. It couples directly to the gearbox input shaft, so the pumping unit itself does not change.
The shaft bore is tapered to match the gearbox output shaft. The taper dimension has to be held tightly — if it is not, the motor works loose from the gearbox in service. Send us the gearbox make and model with the enquiry.
NEMA D is the lower capital cost and the established answer. CYJTYP costs more up front and returns it through energy and through the belts, sheaves and alignment work that stop existing. Which one wins depends on your electricity tariff and how many units you run.
