A terminal-box side and cable-entry direction affect bend radius, gland arrangement, phase sequence, drainage and maintenance access. A catalogue position is not approval for the actual cable route.
Treat terminal-box orientation as an installation interface
Overlay the motor drawing with the cable tray and foundation layout. Include power, earth, heater, RTD and encoder entries. Rotation of a box may be restricted by internal leads, enclosure certification or drain orientation.
Interface check
| Item | Engineering purpose | Review action |
|---|---|---|
| Entry direction | Cable approach and bend | Avoid side load on terminals |
| Gland plate | Hole size and material | Match cable and sealing system |
| Internal links | Phase arrangement | Confirm connection diagram |
| Working space | Cover and tool clearance | Permit safe termination |
Evidence required before approval
Inspect gland torque, cable support, creepage clearances, phase markings and protective-earth connection before energisation. Approve only from a controlled drawing showing orientation and every entry.
Retain the equipment revision and test record. Name the reviewer. Keep open assumptions visible.
Commissioning decision
Never approve a copied setting. Confirm interface compatibility and operating limits. Exercise the intended response during a functional test.
