Permanent Magnet

GTYP Series

GTYP Series High-Speed Variable-Frequency Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

High-speed permanent magnet machine with interior magnets, built to drive fluid machinery directly and delete the speed-increasing gearbox.

GTYP series high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor

GTYP runs on a dedicated permanent magnet drive. The rotor uses an interior magnet arrangement whose differing direct- and quadrature-axis magnetic paths give the machine a degree of reluctance torque.

Because rotor speed is synchronous with the stator field there is no slip and no slip loss, so efficiency stays high across the whole speed range. The high-speed characteristic is what makes the direct drive possible: with the speed-increasing stage removed, the package is smaller, lighter and mechanically simpler.

On blower and centrifugal fan retrofits — including replacement of Roots blowers — the brochure and case records put the energy saving at 20% and above, and in the reported cases between 30% and 40.6%.

Standards and certification

  • GB 30253

Typical applications

  • Centrifugal blowers and air-knife machines, direct-driven
  • Aquaculture aeration, environmental plant, paper, chemical, metallurgy, dyeing and brewing
  • Retrofits replacing Roots blowers and scroll blowers

Selection guide

Two places: deleting the speed-increasing gearbox removes its loss and its maintenance, and a synchronous machine has no slip loss at any point in the range. On a Roots blower replacement both effects apply at once, which is why that retrofit shows the largest numbers.
A dedicated permanent magnet high-frequency drive. This is not a machine you put on a general-purpose induction drive — the fundamental frequency alone rules that out.
GTYP is the air-cooled version. For higher continuous ratings, hotter installations or where the machine has to be smaller still, the water-cooled GTYPS variant covers the same duty with a different cooling arrangement.
